Planet Equus Enterprises FAQ > Equine Sports Massage > How long is a massage session?
My massage sessions vary from 1-2 hours, but most of the time are about 1 hour 20 min. The time will vary based on how well the horse stands for the treatment, how sensitive the horse is, and if I am conversing with the owner or spectators during treatment. Talking is fun but slows me down! I try to focus on what each horse needs from the treatment rather than how much time it is taking.
If a horse is sensitive, sore, or not used to being massaged, I will slow my sequence and take a more careful approach with them. This can lengthen the treatment time considerably, but normally as the horse becomes familiar with the treatment I can speed up the timeline in future sessions.
