My massage sessions treat all major muscle groups from head to tail on both sides of the horse's body.  I feel it is important to treat the entire body for best results; "spot" treating a muscle here or there can be ineffective.  I start with some stretching of the topline, head, and atlas on the left side, then begin the massage sequence starting at the poll, and working my way down the neck, through the shoulders, chest, withers, foreleg, across the back, ribs, and stomach, around the hips, haunches, hind leg, and back to the tail.   Then I repeat the sequence on the right side.
